Boarder Babies Law and Legal Definition
Boarder Babies are infants that are abandoned in hospitals because of the inability of their parents to provide care for them after the delivery. These babies are usually born HIV-positive, with drug addictions, with extreme case of fetal alcohol syndrome, or with other significant medical problems, including very premature deliveries or low birth weights. Generally, these babies remains at the hospital where he or she was born, waiting for placement in a home. The period of waiting might extend for months, sometimes up to a year.
