Boil Water Advisory Law and Legal Definition
Boil water advisory is a public health advisory provided by government or health authorities to communities when there is a possibility of drinking water getting contaminated by pathogens. Under a boil water advisory, it is recommended that water must be boiled for several minutes before use. In other words, boil water advisory is a list of the preventative measures issued to protect public health from waterborne infectious agents that can be present in drinking water. Boil water advisories are issued by either the local public health unit or other responsible authority, or by the water utility.
