Border and Transportation Security Directorate [BTS] Law and Legal Definition
Border and Transportation Security Directorate [BTS] is a unit of the Department of Homeland Security. BTS is responsible for securing U.S. borders and transportation systems, and enforcing the nation’s immigration laws. The subunits of BTS are: Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. BTS brings the major border security and transportation operations under one roof, including the U.S. Customs Service (Treasury), the Immigration and Naturalization Service (part) (Justice), the Federal Protective Service (GSA), the Transportation Security Administration (Transportation), Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (Treasury), Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (part)(Agriculture), and Office for Domestic Preparedness (Justice).
