Broadened Reissue Patent Law and Legal Definition
A broadened reissue patent refers to a patent that is reissued or issued again. A patent is often reissued since it has broader claims than the original, surrendered patent. Pursuant to 35 USCS § 251, a patent shall be reissued under certain circumstances, with broader claims than the original patent provided that the reissue application is filed within two years after the grant of the original patent.
