Burkism Law and Legal Definition
Burkism is the practice of killing people for the purpose of selling the dead bodies for dissection. The victims are killed by smothering. In the earlier periods, surgeons who had a criminal mind used to smother and kill victims to study the branch of surgery in medicine. This was a crime in most of the countries even though the surgeons pleaded that they committed the crime to learn the methods to help survive patients in grave danger. However, the manner of study was considered brutal and therefore, held punishable.
