Captured Vessel Law and Legal Definition
According to 46 CFR 67.3 [Title 46 – Shipping; Chapter I -- Coast Guard, Department of Homeland Security; Subchapter G -- Documentation And Measurement of Vessels; Part 67 -- Documentation of Vessels; Subpart A – General], captured vessel means “a vessel which has been taken by citizens of the United States during a period of war and is thereafter condemned as a prize by a court of competent jurisdiction.”
