Carrying Freight for Hire Law and Legal Definition
According to 46 CFR 24.10-1 [Title 46 – Shipping; Chapter I -- Coast Guard, Department of Homeland Security; Subchapter C -- Uninspected Vessels; Part 24 -- General Provisions; Subpart 24.10 -- Definition of Terms Used in this Subchapter], carrying freight for hire means “the carriage of any goods, wares, or merchandise, or any other freight for a consideration, whether directly or indirectly flowing to the owner, charterer, operator, agent, or any other person interested in the vessel.”
