Certified Decision Law and Legal Definition
A certified decision refers to a Court of Appeal decision certified by the state Supreme Court. Court of Appeals decisions are certified when the state Supreme Court denies transfer in the case or the time for transfer has lapsed. The reason is that a Court of Appeal is an intermediate appellate court and its decisions are subject to review by the state Supreme Court. Court of Appeals decisions are also certified when the Supreme Court, upon granting transfer, affirms the Court of Appeals' ruling.
