Certified therapeutic recreation specialist is a licensed therapist who teaches rehabilitation patients how to participate in recreational activities. National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) is providing certified therapeutic recreation certificates to specialists who meet national standards for education and training specifically in the field of recreation therapy. Recertification is required every five years. The certified therapeutic recreation specialist should also take continuing education courses.
