Chambers refers to the judge’s office or private room. In camera is a Latin term meaning “in chambers.” Sometimes, an in camera hearing is held with the spectators and jurors out of the courtroom. When a judge takes a judicial action when court is not in session, the judge is said to make the decision in chambers.
