Chance Verdict Law and Legal Definition
Chance verdict is one that is determined not by deliberation but arrived at by hazard or lot. For example a verdict reached by the flip of a coin or the drawing of lots. Although such verdicts were once acceptable, they are now unlawful. U.S. law does not permit chance verdicts. Chance verdicts are also known as Gambling verdicts and verdicts by lot.
