Change of Name (Trademark) Law and Legal Definition
Owners of trademark applications and registrations can change their names. This can be done without transferring the actual ownership of the application or registration. When a change of name is made, the trademark owners should record the name change with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s (USPTO) Assignment Branch. This is to maintain a clear record of ownership. Name changes are recorded in the same manner as assignments.
