Charge Certificate Law and Legal Definition
Charge certificate refers to a document issued by land registry to a mortgagee of a property having registered title. In the absence of a mortgage, land registry issues a land certificate to the registered proprietor.
A charge certificate contains three parts:
(1) charges register;
(2) property register; and
(3) proprietorship register.
A notice issued to a motorist who has received a penalty charge notice and subsequent notice to owner, and failed to pay the penalty within the statutory time limits is also termed as charge notice.
