Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter - CPCU Law and Legal Definition
Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) is a professional designation acquired after the successful completion of 10 national examinations given by the American Institute for Property and Liability Underwriters in property-casualty insurance and risk management. It is the premier designation in the insurance industry. The curriculum includes eight (8) post-secondary undergraduate-, or graduate-level courses covering topics such as insurance law, history, contracts, ratemaking, risk management, economics, finance, management, accounting, corporate structure, and ethics. Three years of work experience is inevitable in the insurance business or in the insurance related area.
