Child Employee Law and Legal Definition
Child employee refers to a child of compulsory school age who undertakes paid work. Generally, children of age between 5 and 16 are prohibited from working in industrial undertakings, factories, or mines. Exception is given to employment in theaters and films, sports, work experience and training. Children falling within the above exceptions must not work for more than two hours on any school day or for more than twelve hours a week during term times. These restrictions can be relaxed for working time during school holidays and for children between thirteen and fifteen years of age.
