Chronic Truant Law and Legal Definition
Unexcused absence from compulsory schooling amounts to truancy. A chronic truant is a child of compulsory school age who is absent from public school without legitimate excuse for absence. Usually, a child is supposed to attend seven or more consecutive school days, ten or more school days in one school month, or fifteen or more school days in a school year.[ORC Ann. 2152.02]
