Civil Rights Certification Law and Legal Definition
According to 42 USCS § 1437c-1 [Title 42. The Public Health And Welfare; Chapter 8. Low-Income Housing; General Program Of Assisted Housing], ‘civil rights certification’ is a certification by the public housing agency that the public housing agency will carry out the public housing agency plan in conformity with title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 [42 USCS §§ 2000d et seq.], the Fair Housing Act [42 USCS §§ 3601 et seq.], section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 [29 USCS § 794], and title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 [42 USCS §§ 12131 et seq.], and will affirmatively further fair housing.
