Claims Outstanding Law and Legal Definition
Claims Outstanding, in general, is the difference between claims against assets (liabilities) and claims settled/paid. Within the insurance industry it would be the difference between insurance claims filed and claims settled/paid. This is a technical reserve of an insurance company, and is established to provide for the future liability for claims which have occurred but which have not yet been settled.
