Class I Airport [Aeronautics and Space] Law and Legal Definition
According to 14 CFR 139.5 [Title 14 Aeronautics and Space; Chapter I Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Transportation; Subchapter G Air Carriers and Operators for Compensation or Hire: Certification and Operations; Part 139 Certification of Airports; Subpart A General], Class I Airport means “an airport certificated to serve scheduled operations of large air carrier aircraft that can also serve unscheduled passenger operations of large air carrier aircraft and/or scheduled operations of small air carrier aircraft.”
