Class III Airport [Aeronautics and Space] Law and Legal Definition
According to 14 CFR 139.5 [Title 14 Aeronautics and Space; Chapter I Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Transportation; Subchapter G Air Carriers and Operators for Compensation or Hire: Certification and Operations; Part 139 Certification of Airports; Subpart A General], Class III airport means “an airport certificated to serve scheduled operations of small air carrier aircraft. A Class III airport cannot serve scheduled or unscheduled large air carrier aircraft.”
