CMS Hearing Officer (Health Care) Law and Legal Definition
CMS hearing officer is an individual designated by centers for medicare and medicaid services (CMS) to conduct the appeals process for a claim dispute. Within 30 calendar days from the receipt of request for the hearing, a CMS hearing officer will schedule a hearing to review a contract determination or the imposition of an intermediate sanction. Appeal from the decision of CMS hearing officer will lie to the CMS administrator.
