Co-investigator means an individual who accompanies the principal investigator in conducting a sponsored project. A co-investigator generally works under the supervision and direction of the principal investigator. In the execution of a project the principal investigator generally devises the research and methodology for the project, while a co-investigator participates in the research but generally has less direct responsibility.
