Cognizant Security Agency Law and Legal Definition
According to 32 CFR 148.12 [Title 32 National Defense; Subtitle A Department of Defense; Chapter I Office of the Secretary of Defense; Subchapter D Personnel, Military and Civilian; Part 148 National Policy and Implementation of Reciprocity of Facilities; Subpart B Guidelines for the Implementation and Oversight of the Policy on Reciprocity of Use and Inspections of Facilities], Cognizant Security Agency (CSA) means those agencies that have been authorized by Executive Order 12829 to establish an industrial security program for the purpose of safeguarding classified information disclosed or released to industry.
