Combined Heat and Power System Law and Legal Definition
According to 42 USCS § 6341 [Title 42. The Public Health and Welfare; Chapter 77. Energy Policy and Conservation; Improving Energy Efficiency; Industrial Energy Efficiency], the term "combined heat and power system" means a facility that--
(A) simultaneously and efficiently produces useful thermal energy and electricity; and
(B) recovers not less than 60 percent of the energy value in the fuel (on a higher-heating-value basis) in the form of useful thermal energy and electricity.
