Commission to Examine a Witness Law and Legal Definition
Commission to examine a witness is a judicial commission which directs that a witness beyond the court's territorial jurisdiction should be deposed. The commission usually performs functions that will help the commissioner. The commission identifies the person to be deposed, when and where the deposition will be taken, and any other information that will help the commissioner to perform. This is also termed as commission to take a deposition or commission to take testimony.
