Under probate law the commissioner of accounts is appointed by the court. Usually an attorney will be appointed as commissioner of accounts. The commissioner has got the legal responsibility to oversee the actions of a personal representative of an estate. The commissioner ensures that the personal representative preserve the estate assets and perform their duties as required by law.
