Common Intent Law and Legal Definition
Common intent refers to infering the natural meaning of words, nothing less, nothing more. The general rule is that the natural meaning words will prevail and not any artificial or other inferred meaning unless there is some clear indication that an alternate meaning was intended. When words are used in a sentence, common intent would not add meaning from words that were omitted.
