Common-stock ratio refers to a portion of a company’s outstanding common stock. Common-stock ratio is obtained from dividing a company’s common stock by its total capitalization. Common-stock ratio is expressed as a percentage.
Common-stock ratio also measures the relative claims of stockholders to that of company’s total earnings, equity and cash flow. Common-stock ratio is also known as payout ratio.
