Compos mentis is a Latin term. It means ‘master of one’s mind.’ The term is used to describe an individual of sound mind. A compos mentis person has use and control over his/her own mental faculties.
On the other hand, ‘non compos mentis’ denotes a person ‘not of sound mind’.
