Conatus Law and Legal Definition
Conatus is an endeavor or attempt. This means more than thinking to commit an act which is criminal or planning it without overt action. Mere attempts to commit certain crimes are punishable under law. However, the punishment for the attempt and the crime will be different. Attempt to commit a crime should be distinguished from intention or purpose.
