Concubinatus Law and Legal Definition
Concubinatus is a Latin term. It simply means concubinage. In Roman law, the term is used to refer to a monogamous union between a man and a woman who are not legally married. It is a permanent cohabitation that is recognized by law. Concubinatus was not prohibited. However, such a relationship carried lesser benefits when compared to a legal marriage.
