Cone of silence refers to an oath by a solicitor or other employee in a law firm not to disclose any information with regard to a previous client. That lawyer or employee would be placed in a conflict of interest with other clients of the same law firm. A cone of silence is accomplished by means of a solemn undertaking by the lawyer not to disclose any confidential matters
