Confirmation (Bankruptcy) Law and Legal Definition
Confirmation as used in Bankruptcy laws refer to a Bankruptcy judges's approval of a plan of reorganization or liquidation in chapter 11, or payment plan in chapter 12 or 13. The court order makes the terms of the plan for repayment of debts in Chapter 11, 12 or 13 binding. The terms of the confirmed plan replace the prepetition rights of the debtor and creditor.
