According to 40 CFR 766.3 [Title 40 Protection Of Environment Chapter I Environmental Protection Agency Subchapter R Toxic Substances Control Act Part 766 Dibenzo-Para-Dioxins/Dibenzofurans Subpart A General Provisions] Congener means “any one particular member of a class of chemical substances. A specific congener is denoted by unique chemical structure, for example 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzofuran.”
