Connecting-Up Doctrine Law and Legal Definition
Connecting up doctrine is a rule relating to the admissibility of evidence whereby evidence is allowed to be conditionally admitted if the offering party promises to show relevance by adducing other evidence. The introduction of subsequent evidence will “connect up” the earlier evidence, but if the original evidence is never connected to the case, it will be disregarded by the factfinder.
