Contest (Gaming Law) Law and Legal Definition
Contest is a competition in which participants compete for prizes by winning something by chance or by skill. They may or may not be required to pay a fee. A winner will be selected from among two or more contestants.
The following is an example for a state statute (Nevada) defining the term Contest in relation to gaming :
According to Nev. Rev. Stat. Ann. § 463.01463, contest means a competition among patrons for a prize, whether or not:
1. The prize is a specified amount of money; or
2. Consideration is required to be paid by the patrons to participate in the competition.
