A Convention Country refers to a nation ratified, entered into force, and is party to or member of the Hague Adoption Convention along with the U.S.
Adoption of a child who is a resident of a Convention country by a U.S. citizen is known as convention adoption. Convention adoption also occurs when a child that is a U.S. resident is adopted by an individual or individuals residing in a Convention country, when, in connection with the adoption, the child has moved or will move between the U.S. and the Convention country.
