Conviction Data Law and Legal Definition
Conviction data means information in the custody of any criminal justice agency relating to a person who has been convicted of any felony, misdemeanor or other offense, has been judged delinquent, has been discharged, or has been placed on probation, fined, imprisoned or paroled by any law enforcement or military authority. It also contains information about judgment of conviction, and the consequences arising there from in any court. It is not similar to an arrest record that gives information such as person has been questioned, apprehended, taken into custody or detention, held for investigation, arrested, charged with, indicted or tried for any felony, misdemeanor or other offense by any law enforcement or military authority. The criminal history conviction data is not considered final until a year after the conviction.
