Cordon Rule Law and Legal Definition
The Cordon Rule is a rule of the U.S. Senate that requires Senate committee reports to show in detail how a bill would change current law. For example, a bill amending current law should show in its report what wording the bill would strike from or insert into the current statute. The rule is named after the Oregon Senator Guy Cordon who proposed it.
