Counterfoil Law and Legal Definition
Counterfoil means detachable part of a writing or instrument on which particulars of the main part are summarized. In the U.S., it may also be referred to as stub. For example, the part of a check, postal order, or receipt that can be detached and retained as a record of the transaction.
