Counterterrorism Office refers to the Office of the Coordinator for Counterterrorism of the U.S. Department of State. The Office coordinates and supports the development and implementation of all U.S. Government policies and programs aimed at countering terrorism overseas.
The primary mission of the Office of the Coordinator for Counterterrorism is to forge partnerships with non-state actors, multilateral organizations, and foreign governments to advance the counterterrorism objectives and national security of the U.S. International terrorism threatens the U.S., its allies and interests, and the world community. Defeating the terrorist enemy requires sound policies, concerted U.S. Government effort, and international cooperation. Working with the U.S. Government counterterrorism team, the Office takes a leading role in developing coordinated strategies to defeat terrorists abroad and in securing the cooperation of international partners.
