Covered Air Carrier [Aeronautics and Space] Law and Legal Definition

According to 14 CFR 158.3 [Title 14 Aeronautics and Space; Chapter I Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Transportation; Subchapter I Airports; Part 158 Passenger Facility Charges (PFC's); Subpart A General], Covered Air Carrier means “an air carrier that files for bankruptcy protection or has an involuntary bankruptcy proceeding started against it after December 12, 2003. An air carrier that is currently in compliance with PFC remittance requirements and has an involuntary bankruptcy proceeding commenced against it has 90 days from the date such proceeding was filed to obtain dismissal of the involuntary petition before becoming a covered air carrier.
