Cross Petition Law and Legal Definition
Cross petition is an application for a legal remedy made by a defendant against the plaintiff in the same court. It shall not exceed fifteen pages in length and it shall contain:
1 Statement of facts necessary to an understanding of the question or questions determined by the order or decision of the trial court;
2 Statement of the question itself;
3. Statement of the scheduled trial date
4. Discussion of the reasons,
5. Discussion of the reasons why the decision below is alleged to be erroneous;
6. Statement of the precise relief sought; and
7. Statement of the date by which a decision is needed and the reasons why a decision is needed by that date.
