Crossover [Transportation] Law and Legal Definition
According to 49 CFR 218.93 [Title 49 – Transportation; Subtitle B -- Other Regulations Relating to Transportation; Chapter II -- Federal Railroad Administration, Department of Transportation; Part 218 -- Railroad Operating Practices; Subpart F -- Handling Equipment, Switches, and Fixed Derails], crossover means, “a track connection between two adjacent, but not necessarily parallel, tracks, consisting of two switches, which is intended to be used primarily for the purpose of crossing over from one track to another.”
