Custodial Care (Health Care) Law and Legal Definition

Custodial care refers to personal care that provides assistance in activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, eating, getting in or out of a bed or chair, moving around, using bathroom,preparation of food, feeding and supervision of medication. It refers to care for such activities that most people do themselves, such as using eye drops. Custodial care does not require continuous attention of trained medical or paramedical personnel. Medicare often does not pay for custodial care.
