Dealer Law and Legal Definition
Dealer acts as an intermediary between prospective buyers and sellers. Dealer is an agent employed to bargain and contract between other persons in matters of trade, commerce, or navigation. A dealer is also said to be someone who purchases and maintains inventory of goods under an authorization for sale or distribution in a particular area.
Dealer is defined under 26 USCA § 861 (g) as "any person not a manufacturer or importer engaged within the continental United States, in the business of selling firearms. The term 'dealer' shall include wholesalers, pawnbrokers, and dealers in used firearms." [United States v. Adams, 11 F. Supp. 216, 217 (S.D. Fla. 1935)].
