Debt or Claim [Education] Law and Legal Definition
According to 34 CFR 34.3 [Title 34 – Education; Subtitle A -- Office of the Secretary, Department of Education; Part 34 -- Administrative Wage Garnishment], the term debt or claim means “any amount of money, funds, or property that an appropriate official of the Department has determined an individual owes to the United States under a program we (United States Department of Education) administer.”
