Decision Altitude [Aeronautics and Space] Law and Legal Definition
According to 14 CFR 1.1 [Title 14 Aeronautics and Space; Chapter I Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Transportation; Subchapter A Definitions; Part 1 Definitions and Abbreviations], Decision Altitude (DA) “is a specified altitude in an instrument approach procedure at which the pilot must decide whether to initiate an immediate missed approach if the pilot does not see the required visual reference, or to continue the approach. Decision altitude is expressed in feet above mean sea level.”
