Defense Industrial Base Law and Legal Definition
Defense industrial base is an uncomparable element of National Power that differentiates the U.S. from all potential opponents. The defense industrial base in the U.S. includes the Department of Defense, government, and private sector. It also includes worldwide industrial complex with capabilities to perform research and development, design, produce, and maintain military weapon systems, subsystems, components, or parts to meet military requirements. Hence, defense industrial base can be defined by the following five functional concepts such as, battlespace awareness, command and control, force application, protection, and focused logistics.
