Defense Logistics Agency Law and Legal Definition

The Defense Logistics Agency, abbreviated as DLA is the Department of Defense’s largest logistics combat support agency. DLA provides worldwide logistics support in both peacetime and wartime to the military services as well as several civilian agencies and foreign countries. As America's combat logistics support agency, the Defense Logistics Agency provides the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, other federal agencies, and joint and allied forces with a variety of logistics, acquisition and technical services. The Agency also provides support for nonmilitary agencies overseas. This supplies about 84 per cent of the military’s spare parts. In addition, the Agency manages the reutilization of military equipment, provides catalogs and other logistics information products, and offers document automation and production services.
